Indiana has very strict laws governing payday loans.  This is a good thing for both parities involved.  For instance, the maximum that you can borrow is $500 or no more than 15% of your gross monthly pay, whichever is less.  The minimum length of time you can carry the loan is 15 days.

Also, the finance charges that you are required to pay are capped at 15% on the first $250 you borrow, 13% on amounts between $250 to $400 and finally 10% on $400 to $500.  This makes it very reasonable and realistic to repay within the time frame.

Finally, you should check out the lender you will be using to make sure that they honor the rules set forth by the state.  These regulations are put in place for your safety so make sure they are being met before doing business.
